This gorgeous 8.5”W x 4.5”H bowl began its life as a maple tree before being taken to the wood yard to be split for firewood where it was forgotten. After a few years fungus had moved through the wood providing the beautiful spaltibg you see here. It was then taken from the yard to our shop where it was rough turned, stabilized and dried for a year. Once the wood was fully dried it was remounted on the lathe and finish turned, before being sanded to 2000 grit and finished with a high gloss lacquer. Not recommend for food use.
